Maps Of London: Hand-Cut Capital

Our long-running series showing off the best home-made maps of London.

Amelia Staines crafts delicate representations of the city by cutting holes in paper. Can you imagine the skill and patience needed to make one of these things? One false snip and you've severed half of London. The two shown here depict central London and the Thames-side town of Henley. Both were commissions for people who were moving away from their home towns, and show specific streets, pubs and landmarks.

Amelia's a graduate of the London College of Printing and has worked in graphic design, photography and illustration for many years. You can see more of her work on her website.
