Hand-Drawn Maps Of London: The Fields Of New Cross

We finish a week of maps with this delightfully green view of New Cross, as drawn by Harriet McDougall. Those who don't know the Cross might assume it's all tarmac and puking art students, but Harriet's found a more verdant aspect.

I'd just moved to London to start university from the backwaters of Norfolk. Another guy starting my course was from the same area as me, and feeling really homesick, so I went on a mission to discover the countryside-ness of New Cross. One day (when my degree is over probably) I intend to do the same for some more boroughs- it was so much fun to draw and research.

If you'd like to have a go at doodling your own neighbourhood, send images to tips - at - londonist.com. To be considered for our upcoming exhibition at the Museum of London, you'll need to get the hard copy to us by the end of next week (address supplied upon application).
