What's The Best Pub In Walthamstow?

Browse our Best Pubs in London microsite.

Every month, we pick a different area of town and explore the pubs. We ask readers to nominate their favourites, then we organise a pub crawl around the top few. This month, we’re heading north to Walthamstow. What do you think are the best pubs in this part of town?

Here’s how to play:

  1. Let us know (in the comments below, on Facebook, or by tweeting #londonistpub) your favourite pubs in the area.
  2. We’ll tally up the votes on Monday and publish the results.
  3. We’ll then arrange a pub crawl around the most popular choices. You’re welcome to join us.
  4. You can nominate anywhere that might generally be considered within pub crawling distance of Walthamstow tube.
  5. By ‘pubs’, we’re using a shorthand — you can also vote for bars.
  6. You can nominate more than one place. All nominations count as one vote, whether you rank them or not. Likes on Facebook and retweets of someone else’s vote are also counted as new votes.
  7. Venues should be open to the public with no pre-booking, entry fee or membership required.

So, where shall we go?

Rose and Crown - a proper pub! Not too twee, nor too... what's the opposite of twee?

@WildCardBrewery @MothersRuinE17 @roseandcrownpub @ChequersE17 @Bell_E17 @WillMorrisbar

Has to be the Rose & Crown!

Rose & Crown - a true community pub. Fab ever-changing range or beers, lovely staff, always good stuff going on - there are prettier pubs in the area but the Rose is the best.

Matt Churchill

Got to be the Rose & Crown, The Village, Wildcard Brewery or The Chequers. To be honest, you could name them all...!

David A.

Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre Pub - great place, great atmosphere, awesome staff - always so friendly...

Since I've been working in Walthamstow, me and my colleagues often visit this unique place. It is so close to our local office I almost feel it like home :)

So, if you let me, I would like to say "Cheers" to all my friends and colleagues from http://www.housekeeperslondon....

Rose & Crown for a good pint, The Bell for Sunday lunch, Warrant Officer for a game of pool, Mothers Ruin Gin Factory on Fri, Sat & Sun for Gin cocktails.

Paul McGrane

Rose and Crown for being the first to try hard to make going to the pub an entertainment; & Chequers and The Bell are taking us more up market; Nags Head and The Village are very nice and comfy, but best choice of beer though is The Goose!

John Moss

The Bell

The Vic on Hoe Street.

Andy Gryce

Don't overlook the Nags Head in Offord Road. Good choice of beers and a pleasant atmosphere.

The Victoria. Still a real pub. We need to keep a mix.

The Victoria chequers, warrant officer, Nags head, Castle

Rose and Crown, a good pub with good beers, lots of stuff on and a real part of the community.

Jonathan C

Rose & crown has my vote. Others may be swisher or more trendy but the Rose is a fantastic community hub with friendly staff, lots of things going on and a good crowd. A place with real heart.

Pete Loss

The Rose & Crown. It balances being a genuine community pub with being a theatre pub and a musical and artistic hub for the area. And it has proper beer.

Simon Munk

Rose & Crown, Walthamstow and London's finest pub!

Ye Olde Rose and Crown, Walthamstow. Changes with time but still a great pub.

The Nag's Head. Best beer, best food, best music, best garden, best everything!

Rose & Crown. Also has a great little theatre and comedy venue.

Definite votes for @WildCardBrewery @roseandcrownpub @ChequersE17 - my top 3 and most visited in Walthamstow!

actually there is none as they have all closed down the good ones that is all that's left are the ones we never went to because they were the pits 1967-2014 seen them all there used to be the horseless carriage the chestnut tree the castle ect ect
