What’s The Best Pub In Dulwich?

Voting has now closed. See here for the results, and how to join the pub crawl.

If you know the Dulwich area, we need you to tell us your favourite pubs and bars.

Why Dulwich? Well, take a look at our Best Pubs in London microsite. There’s a big boozy hole in that part of town, yet we know it harbours good drinking spots. So please help us identify the best pubs in the area. We’ll then organise a pub crawl around the top four, and add these places to our good pub guide.

Here’s how to play:

  1. Let us know (in the comments below, on Facebook, or by tweeting #bestdulwichpub) your favourite pubs in the area.
  2. We’ll tally up the votes on Monday and publish the results.
  3. We’ll then arrange a pub crawl around the most popular choices. You’re welcome to join us.
  4. You can nominate anywhere that might generally be considered Dulwich (including North Dulwich, East Dulwich, etc.) We’re not going to define a boundary — just use common sense.
  5. By ‘pubs’, we’re using a shorthand — you can also vote for bars.
  6. You can nominate more than one place. All nominations count as one vote, whether you rank them or not. Likes on Facebook and retweets of someone else’s vote are also counted as new votes.
  7. Venues should be open to the public with no pre-booking, entry fee or membership required.

So, where shall we go?

Londonist Pub Crawls

Having completed an ‘A-Z’ of areas, we’re now choosing other interesting parts of town. Vote winning pubs will be added to our Best Pubs in London microsite.

I take it you’re including East and West Dulwich? As there’s really only one pub in Dulwich; The Crown and Greyhound AKA The Dog

    • threehundredbeers

Plus, they’re asking about pubs, not restaurants or nurseries.

    1. EDT (East Dulwich Tavern) 2. The Flying Pig 3.The Bishop

  • Jon

No no no…the EDT smells of piss and bleach – it’s revolting. The Great Exhibition up on Crystal Palace Road is lovely. The Commercial in Herne Hill is a bit further afield, but also good and there’s nothing in HH on the map…

The Crown & Greyhound, The Gowlett, The Great Exhibition

    • Pommes

The Gowlett in Dulwich? Feck off! Leave SE15 alone.

        ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The Great Exhibition is good for a drink but the food is overpriced and largely terrible.

  • Cat

Great Exhibition for beer and a pub cat, Bishop for Clarence the dog, Plough for the quiz (though everything else is dire), Herne Tavern for the garden, but there is no perfect pub in this area :-(

  • Mark Wilson

Crown & Greyhound; pretentious, over-priced & full of Rah-rahs. No thanks.

    • threehundredbeers

Agreed. A once great pub that’s absolutely horrid these days.

The Great Exhibition and the Flying Pig are my two faves in Dulwich area

  • Bippy

Is the Flying Pig a pub? I thought it was a hipster BBQ pork restaurant which happens to serve beer.

Anyway, The Rosendale is also worth a mention, which is in West Dulwich. I’d also assert that The Gowlett IS in Dulwich, and as such, is also worth a mention.

    Bishop, Lordship Lane, East Dulwich
