What's The Best Pub In Victoria, Pimlico And Vauxhall?

We've reached part 'V' of our alphabetical, 2½ year pub crawl. Part 'V' means Victoria and Vauxhall, plus the Pimlico bit in the middle. As ever, we want your opinions on the best pubs in the area, then we'll organise a pub crawl around the top four (or maybe more if we're feeling boozy).

Here’s how to play

  1. Let us know (in the comments below, on Facebook, or by tweeting #BestVPub) your favourite pubs in Victoria, Pimlico and/or Vauxhall.
  2. What counts as Victoria, Pimlico and Vauxhall is up to you...so long as your choice is within reasonable pub crawling distance of those centres.
  3. We’ll tally up the votes in a few days and publish the results.
  4. We’ll then arrange a pub crawl around the most popular choices. You’re welcome to join us.
  5. By ‘pubs’, we’re using a shorthand — you can also vote for bars.
  6. You can nominate more than one place. All nominations count as one vote, whether you rank them or not. Likes on Facebook and retweets of someone else’s vote are also counted as new votes.
  7. Venues should be open to the public with no pre-booking, entry fee or membership required.

So, where shall we go?

Definitely Cask.

Tom Bolton

Cask, Colonies, Two Chairmen and the Windsor Castle I'd say. Also a mention for Pages on Page Street, London's best Art Deco pub, demolished more than 10 years ago now.

Carl Gardner

The Speaker, SW1P 2HA, is great.

Black Dog - Vauxhall

Definitely The Windsor by Westminster Cathedral.

The Queen's Arms, Warwick Way, SW1V 1QT
The Fentiman Arms,Fentiman Road, SW8

Cask Pub and Kitchen and Speaker hands down

Cask Pub and Kitchen of course!

Chris L

The Plumbers Arms. Absolutely not The Phoenix, horrible bloody place.

Cask Pub & Kitchen - Tachbrook St - if you want craft beer, this is your place. Often packed.
Marquis of Westminster - Belgrave Road - nice pub with good food & hard-to-get-a-seat-in-summer picnic tables outside
Moo Cantina - recently opened on Vauxhall Bridge Road - nice space, funky, decent food & some outdoor space.
The Warwick - Warwick Way - nice pub, good couches down the back.
The Elusive Camel - Wilton Road - nice laid back bar, good size.
The Queen's Arms - Warwick Way - nice bar, good food.

Cask, Windsor Castle

Best pub in Vauxhall is Fentiman Arms (although not tried The Wheatsheaf on S Lambeth Road). Queen's Arms in Pimlico also a favourite of mine (good food). Phoenix in Victoria good to (same chain as Fenti). Camberwell now has better pubs than all of these though!

The Black Dog

Cask, hands down. The rest are average at best, to poor on average.

The Cask, by a mile.

The Windsor Castle is good, in a Sam Smiths way - not for everyone.

The Jugged Hare is a good standby and usually gets all the Fullers seasonals in.

The Speaker is a good shout too.

The Cask & Glass, in the summer - not such a good call for a mass pub crawl at this time of year though.

Sir Lunchalot

The Thomas Cubitt - Victoria

The Black Dog and the Fentiman Arms in Vauxhall

And don't forget Zeitgeist in Vauxhall - a hidden treasure
