A-Z Pubcrawl: Where Are The Best Pubs In The Isle Of Dogs?

There's gotta be a good pub in there somewhere...

Recommend a good pub or bar on the Isle of Dogs, then join us on a crawl round the top four.

We’re up to part ‘I’ of our two-year alphabetical pubcrawl round the capital, and we’ve chosen the Isle of Dogs (mostly because Islington was covered in part A for Angel, and Ickenham and Ilford didn’t really appeal).

So, what are your favourite pubs or bars in the Isle of Dogs? Do any of the many bars of Canary Wharf take your fancy? Or do you prefer the quieter boozers to the south of the Isle? We’d like a selection of both, so feel free to nominate more than one.

Here’s how to play:

  1. Let us know (in the comments, on Facebook, or by tweeting #bestIoDPub) your favourite pubs in the area.
  2. We’ll tally up the votes in a few days.
  3. We’ll then arrange a pubcrawl later this month around the four most popular choices. You’re welcome to join us.
  4. By ‘pubs’, we’re using a shorthand — you can also vote for bars.
  5. You can nominate more than one place. All nominations count as one vote, whether you rank them or not. Likes on Facebook and retweets of someone else’s vote are also counted as new votes.
  6. Venues should be open to the public with no pre-booking, entry fee or membership required.

So, where shall we go?

The Hubbub Bar at Space on Westferry Road – http://www.hubbubcafebar.com/

Put me down for a vote for Hubbub as well.

Good call with Hubbub. It’s a bit small, mind.

However, my many years of living on the Isle of Dogs suggest that the best options around there involve walking through the foot tunnel to Greenwich.

Still, the Grapes (in Limehouse) is only a short walk from Westferry DLR, so I’m going to stretch the geographical constraints a bit and vote for that too.

    Hubbub definitely.

The Gun on Coldharbour – gastro, outside deck with views over the Dome.
    The George by Crossharbour DLR
    The Ship on Westferry Road
The North Pole on Cuba or Manilla street, always forget which.
Pepper St Ontiod on Pepper St.

So there’s 6 good ones. I’ll vote for all those. Message me if you need help/advice.

Excellent, thanks Andrew (and everyone else…quite a few votes through Facebook). I’ll close the poll at midday Wednesday and announce the pub crawl route soon after. Be great if you could join us Andrew.
