Santa's Lap: London Beer

Every day until Christmas we will be pointing you in the direction of a London-inspired Christmas present that (with a bit of luck) you won’t already have on your list. Climb up onto our collective lap and we’ll see what we can move from our sack to your stockings…

What do you buy a real ale head for Christmas? Beer of course. Beer made right here. Here's some of what's on offer:

Meantime: Greenwich brewers Meantime offer their Londoner t-shirts for £15, brewery tours for £15 and a whole range of beers, from Chocolate Porter to India Pale Ale in beautiful champagne-style bottles. You can order online or stop by their stall at the Southbank Centre Real Food Christmas Market.

Kernel: the Bermondsey based Kernel brewery is open on Saturday ready to sell you pale ales, porter and stout direct from their shop at Arch 11 Dockley Road Industrial Estate, SE16 3SF between 9am-3pm.

Camden Town: The brewery will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to sell you bottles of Hell's, Pale Ale, Wheat and Ink, as well as limited edition Doppelbock, which apparently goes well with turkey, direct from the brewery at 55-59 Wilkin Street Mews, NW5 3NN. They also offer brewery tours for £12.

By The Horns: These Wandsworth brewers offer such Londony liquids as Diamond Geezer Red Ale and Lambeth Walk Dark Porter available in select Oddbins stores, deli and bottle shops, as listed here. You can also buy online.

Top beery tip: You'll most likely find all these and much more at the Utobeer stall on Borough Market.
