Santa's Lap: Ten Poems About London

Every day until Christmas we will be pointing you in the direction of a London-inspired Christmas present that (with a bit of luck) you won’t already have on your list. Climb up onto our collective lap and we’ll see what we can move from our sack to your stockings…

This poetry pamphlet is a Christmas card and gift in one. There's an envelope and bookmark you can write a message on before your friend opens up one of the ten poems about London contained within. George Szirtes introduces them, showing how they pay homage to London's public and private spaces. He's also written one of the poems, Trojan Horse – the other poems are:

Anon, Two Rhymes for Children
Elizabeth Bartlett, Underground
William Blake, London
Elaine Feinstein, Homecoming
W S Graham, The Night City
A N Stencl, A Linden Tree in a Whitechapel Street
Sarah Wardle, The Capital
William Wordsworth, Composed upon Westminster Bridge, September 3, 1802

You can buy Ten Poems About London from Candlestick Press for £4.95+P&P. Other pamphlets available include Ten Poems About.... Bicycles, Birds, Love, Tea, Sheep, Puddings, Shopping, Cats, Dogs and more.
