Know a good Hackney boozer?

Every month, we ask readers to vote for their favourite pubs in a particular part of town. This is our 40th vote and (would you believe it?) we've never yet asked you for proper Hackney recommendations. So please do nominate your favourites in the comments below.

Here’s how to vote:

  1. Let us know (in the comments below, on Facebook, or by tweeting #BestHackneyPub) your favourite pubs in the area. We’ll tally up the votes early next week and publish the results. We’ll also arrange a pub crawl around the most popular choices. You’re welcome to join us.
  2. You can nominate anywhere in Hackney borough. Central, Dalston, Homerton, Haggerston, Wick... etc. See map below to refresh your memory.
  3. By ‘pubs’, we’re using a shorthand — you can also vote for bars with some kind of pubbish character.
  4. You can nominate more than one place. All nominations count as one vote, whether you rank them or not. Likes on Facebook and retweets of someone else’s vote are also counted as new votes.
  5. Venues should be open to the public with no pre-booking, entry fee or membership required.

So, where shall we go?

Shacklewell Arms without a doubt

The one with no yuppies

Will P

1. Prince George
2. The Crooked Billet
3. The Elderfield
4. Crate
5. Wenlock Arms

Shacklewell Arms, Howling Hops Tank Bar, Crate Brewery

Matthew Burchell

Windsor Castle and Clapton Hart

Save The Chesham

Chesham Arms- Hackney's first Asset of Community Value HAS to win. Then Plough, Wenlock and Anchor & Hope are third equal. The Gun is also pretty good, as is the Jackdaw & Star

Dave H

The Pembury Tavern and the Jolly Butchers would be my choices.

Greg Tingey

The Cock, Mare St?
NOT The Pembury any more - they've lost the plot ...
Is The Anchor & Hope on the canal in Hackney?
The revived Wenlock?

Lillian Wilkie

Definitely the Plough. Best cocktails, best food, best people, best records.

James Hines

The Plough, Homerton. Best food, cocktails, and ever-revolving beer selection

tom bolt

has to be the Hackney Plough..yields an Informal class that is scanty seen elsewhere.

Abandon Ship

Hackney Plough guys.By far

sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came, you wanna be where you can see the troubles are all the same (your third fiancée never came, you husband wants to be a girl, etc) you wanna be where everybody knows your name... THE PLOUGH.

Philip Glanville

I'd go for Wenlock Arms, Beehive, Chesham Arms, Clapton Hart and The People's Park Tavern. When is the vote going to open?
