Sizzle with fireworks

Bonfire Night offers many romantic opportunities. Funfairs and beer tents are popular at most displays. When the sizzling starts get close in the dark and feel the tingles as the first rockets go off. But where are you going to go? Check out our handy guide to London's firework displays by borough.

Jazz it up

Jazz is cool. If you can negotiate your way around London Jazz Festival and pick a great gig your date's bound to be impressed, especially if it's in a great setting like an historic house or tucked away club. Need some help? Use our map of London Jazz Festival venues and take note of our recommendations. Book tickets now so you don't miss out.

Find a cure for heartbreak

You've both probably been round the block a few times, right? No one wants a date that bangs on about their exes but Bryony Kimmings' new show is about lost loves and cures for heartbreak, and she's seeking them from her audience. Catch it at Bush Theatre's RADAR festival and get a sense of the cutting edge of new writing. And if it doesn't work out, you might learn some ways to cope.

Hang out in Hoxton

Don't panic, we don't mean like a hipster. We're talking old school Hoxton. As part of Hoxton Hall's 150th anniversary celebrations and fundraising efforts they're putting on a Vintage Variety Fair on Saturday 16 November. Explore the beautiful music hall, indulge in some dressing up, join a tea dance and enjoy street performers and the buzz of the market. If things go well, there's live music late into the night.

Spend an afternoon at the Museum

When did you last visit the Natural History Museum? Alongside its permanent treasures, currently on show are the stunning images from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. We can't imagine a person who wouldn't enjoy these amazing photos. Plus, the ice rink will be open soon.
