Hoxton Hall celebrates its 150th anniversary with a special season of entertainment.

Drawing on its music hall roots, Hoxton Varieties presents a tip-top variety line-up hosted by Immodesty Blaize, a Vintage Variety Fair including a tea dance and exhibition of East End photos, a double bill of Hitchcock films and a comedy night from telly's Hat Trick Productions. It all kicks off on 1 November with a local music showcase, MVMNT150.

Established in 1863 as a venue 'with the specific object of affording the humbler classes an entertainment that shall combine instruction with amusement', over the years Hoxton Hall has served as Temperance Mission, air raid shelter, community centre, theatre, dance hall and youth arts hub. Having battled financial crises and lost its Arts Council funding, receiving National Lottery Funding for its campaign to restore the grade II listed building last year was a huge boost. The 150th anniversary celebrations serve as a vibrant platform from which to launch a restoration fundraising campaign to make sure Hoxton Hall is fit to serve the Shoreditch community for another 150 years.
