With V last weekend, and Reading zooming up on the horizon, we're feeling quite the festival goers at the moment and looking forward to the mighty Bestival in 3 weeks. Set up by Rob Da Bank in 2004 as a spin off from his Sunday Best clubnight at Tearoom Des Artistes in Wandsorth, it combines an anything goes (albeit it slightly leftfield) music policy with a whole bunch of fun from a fancy dress......

If hearing the best of the rest is more appealing than a night on the sofa in front of the X-Factor, you need to make your way to Victoria Park on Saturday for the left-field music event of the summer. Teaming with big names on the alternative circuit such as Foals, Simian Mobile Disco, Mystery Jets, Les Savy Fav, Richie Hawtin, Laura Marling, Lightspeed Champion and Noah & The Whale, the day is a......

Next Friday Victoria Park is host to the 2nd Underage Festival and we're looking for 2 readers to go down and cover it for us. After last year's sell out event, the Underage Festival has returned continuing it's belief of no adults allowed! Instead the park is handed over to anyone between 14 and 18 to enjoy a brilliant day of music. Current #1 Dizzee Rascal has recently been added to a bill that......

The End of the Road festival in Dorset has made some firm fans for itself over the last couple of years. As a final teaser before the festival proper, the curators are hosting a gig right here in London at the intimate Bush Hall on Uxbridge Road on Wednesday night (30th July). Former Ash bassist Charlotte Hatherley headlines the gig and is worth the ticket price along with this being her only London date......

As mad as it sounds, tomorrow is Bonkersfest, a one-day free celebration of all things creative, eccentric and crazy. Held in Camberwell, expect live music, theatre, comedy, a ‘guided our of the local loonie bin’ and whatever it takes to remove the stigma from mental illness. Special mention goes to live artist Bobby Baker and her dancing peas. Kick off is at 12noon and events go on until 9pm. You would be mad to......

Long a feature of the New York summer, yesterday saw crowds estimated at 45,000 turn out for London’s first Salute to Israel, held to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Jewish state / tragedy of the Palestinian people / bungling British withdrawal from tricky bit of Empire (delete as appropriate). A Star-of-David-studded march proceeded down Piccadilly to Trafalgar Square to hear luminaries such as Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosser and er, LBC......

Once a year, Canary Wharf is transformed by Dancing City. There's nothing quite like seeing aerialistes descending from the glass and steel powerhouses of corporate finance or parkour artists dashing effortlessly through the artificial garden of Cabot Square to make you look at this blue chip island quite differently. Turn up from 1pm on Sunday and be ambushed by all sorts of dance forms around Canary Wharf. See Bharata Natyam does football, a tango......

As we mentioned briefly before, Thursday brings the East 2008 Festival. For six days, a cornucopia of performances, exhibitions, workshops, food and other events ensures entertainment with emphasis on promotion of the best of East London. Here’s our pick of the mix: 6th March: F-EAST - artists Wiebke and Nicholas Morgan cook a meal from 12 recipes from a Nigel Slater cookbook, and serve it for visitors as an exploration into ownership and the......

There are moments where London can be proud of its diversity. This is just one of them. The London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival - the annual feast of the best gay cinema - is shortly upon us. This year's gathering in the capital will be the 22nd time it has been held in London, and each year it seems to attract more films and popularity. Our sizable gay community and London's film and......

Just as London spring begins to break beautifully over the city, the Flamenco Festival is charging into Sadlers Wells to make us all long for the heat and sultriness of a Spanish summer. The fiesta spans the spectrum of the dance form from the Farruquito family presenting traditional gypsy flamenco to one woman and one man pushing flamenco into the 21st Century. There's a showcase homage to the great women of Flamenco, tributes to......

iTunes have announced 10 days of gigs starting next Thursday as part of their iTunes Live series. All the gigs will be available to download from iTunes after the 10 day festival is over. Last year’s festival was a bit later in the year, but all the shows were a significant success - dare we say it, but this year's line up isn't anywhere near as impressive - yes, we have Billy Bragg, Alphabeat and......
