Designer Dating at the London Design Festival

This week is all about the London Design Festival, and if you want to impress your latest squeeze, there are literally 100s of events to choose from. We particularly like the sound of that staircase outside Tate Modern, Be A Slut or Just Smell Like One at Etat Libre d'Orange, The Typographic Circle's Circular Magazine at the V&A, and making a 3D model of yourself in Hackney. What could be more creepy romantic than handing your date a miniature model of you to take home?

Dates Fit for a King at Kings Place

Wine tasting. Beer tasting. Chocolate tasting. Classical music. Jazz. Klezmer. Beatbox. Folk. Sketch comedy. Boat trips. If you can't find something to kick off some flirty conversations at the very least at the Kings Place Festival this year, we might suggest finding someone less difficult to date.

Be a Funny Valentine

If you didn't fancy watching the wooing wrinklies from last week's suggested dates, perhaps you'll be persuaded to take your lover to see some magic fairy / donkey action instead? This week's Shakespearean rom-com recommendation is A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Noel Coward Theatre, part of the successful Michael Grandage season of shows. As well as warring fairies, runaway lovers and some nutty would-be actors, you'll be treated to the spectacle of Sheridan Smith as Titania, Queen of the Fairies, trying to win the heart of David Walliam's Bottom, a bloke with donkey's head.

Win Over a Fit Foodie

Saturday is the start of Urban Food Fortnight, a festival celebrating all the fabulous local food on offer in London. Win the way to your intended's heart (through their stomach) by taking your date to one of the top events like the Michaelmas Feast at The Pickle Factory in Hackney, the Crayfish Bob Pop-Up in Battersea, or the Midnight Apothecary at the Brunel Museum Gardens.

Romance and More(?) in More London

Dating on a budget? We hear ya. Sometimes you don't need to splash the cash to impress. If posh cinema tickets are a splurge too far this week, try taking your amour to a free film screening at The Scoop as part of More London's Free Film Festival. Musicals fans can catch Les Mis or Grease; there's romance in Amour and Back to the Future (there is!); and plenty of other choices for film fans of all persuasions. Plus a gorgeous backdrop of Tower Bridge and a possible late-night romantic riverside stroll post-show that you don't get from most other cinema-based dates.
