Few pubs in London carry quite so much artful bling as the Sal. The Victorian interior is a real treasure, to rival the Princess Louise or the Argyll Arms. This is not a Sam Smith's pub, as you might imagine from the decor, but part of the Taylor Walker group. Consequently, you'll find a wider ale range and somewhat better food (although they insist on serving on those much-hated wooden boards for some reason).
The pub has been at the heart of theatreland for over a century, and is consequently busy at all times. One of the area's original gay pubs, it now attracts a thoroughly mixed customer base.
