We were initially surprised to see this Young's pub coming in so high in our poll of best Thames pubs. For starters, it looks like an estate pub from the outside. For main course, it's always rammed with tourists. And for puddings, they've missed off the bloody apostrophe. But having visited a few times, the place has won us round.
Sure, the main bar can get busy, but the riverside tables offer a Hollywood-worthy view of City landmarks.
The interior — recently refurbished — is split into two areas. More formal seating is at the westerly (Blackfriars) end, while the bar is to the east. Both ends offer smashing views.
The food is pretty decent and quickly served. Perhaps best sampled in spring/autumn, outside the main tourist season, though.
