You never forget the Faltering Fullback... so long as you go fully to the back. We like this place so much that we nominated it among our 10 favourites in London back in 2011, in this here Guardian article.
It's a pub of many parts. Cut your way through the tangled ivy, and the small entrance bar looks like a typical locals' boozer, but with its ceiling decked out with a peculiar collection of sporting memorabilia. This leads into a slightly larger seating area. Then, through the doors, you find a large and dimly lit hall, kitted out for mass crowds to watch the sport (or play on the pool table and pinball).
The real prize lurks out the back. The Faltering Fullback has, quite simply, London's most amazing beer garden. It's one big happy treehouse, built on different levels. Imagine if the Ewok Village had been designed by MC Escher. Dozens of tables pack the punters in, but it was full to capacity by 6pm on our most recent visit. The drink is undistinguished, but by no means restricted, while food is provided by a Thai kitchen.
Oh, and here's Daniel Radcliffe, dicking about in the pub's various rooms.
On Facebook. Quiz night is Monday.
