The Barbican's multi-level, labyrinthine walkways make it the perfect place to spend a day getting lost. Part residential estate, part open air museum, part arts centre, the Grade II listed building is a marvellous display of Brutalist architecture and a fascinating place to wander. Be warned: retracing your steps is easier said than done, but stick to one of the yellow threads and you won't find yourself lost forever.
Barbican Estate is located just off London Wall, right next to Barbican tube station and also walking distance from Moorgate, St Paul's and Bank tube stations. To find out more about the estate and its history, visit the City of London website here.
