Eight days of Tube strikes between November 2026 and February 2027 have been announced.
Tube drivers belonging to the RMT union will carry out 24-hour strikes on the following dates:
🚇 Thursday 26 November 2026
🚇 Thursday 17 December 2026
🚇 Saturday 19 December 2026
🚇 Monday 4 January 2027
🚇 Wednesday 6 January 2027
🚇 Wednesday 17 February 2027
🚇 Tuesday 23 February 2027
🚇 Thursday 25 February 2027
These dates fall within the busy run-up to the festive period, when many visitors come to London, as well as what will be the first working day of 2027 for a lot of people. 17 February falls within the half term school holiday for many London and UK schools.
The action is due to a dispute about plans to shorten drivers' working weeks from five days to four. While the change is being presented as voluntary, with drivers choosing whether to move over to the new working pattern, the RMT claims drivers will face "increased time spent driving trains, longer duties, earlier starts and later finishes, short-notice changes to shifts and attacks on existing transfer rights and annual leave arrangements".
The RMT says it has "consistently demanded guarantees that no driver choosing to remain on existing agreements would suffer any detriment, but London Underground management has failed to provide those assurances."
However, the Tube union Aslef is all for the four-day week, and has expressed its surprise at RMT's strike action, which is a continuation of strikes that took place in spring 2026.
TfL has not yet said how the strikes are expected to impact services. Keep an eye on this page closer to the time for updates.
