London Overground's great rebranding is well underway.
The Tube map has six new lines. Well, old ones, but now sporting fresh names and colours. Announced last year, we now welcome the Liberty, Lioness, Mildmay, Suffragette, Weaver and Windrush lines to the London transport firmament. The six lines constitute different branches of the Overground network, which previously lacked individual names and were shown in the same shade of orange.
The swap-over took its time. The new names were supposed to launch in early autumn, but had to be delayed while TfL dealt with a serious cyberattack.
Now, finally, the six new lines are out in the wild. Vinyl stickers have been peeled off, and the six new liveries are on display at many stations. Updated route maps can also be found in many train carriages. And we can confirm that pre-recorded platform announcements on the Overground network are using the new names.
The switchover has also occurred digitally. Head over to TfL's site, and you can see the six new lines slotted in among their established siblings. All running well at time of writing.
Finally, the changes have also prompted a new version of the tube map. The six new lines are all present and correct along with a number of tweaks to the layout. Inevitably, Diamond Geezer has spotted an error or two, but fortunately quite minor.
