Europe's highest free public viewing gallery opens at the end of September.
Located on the 58th floor of 22 Bishopsgate — the second tallest building in London/the UK after The Shard — Horizon 22 will offer vistas of London (including The Shard itself) from 254 metres up, seven days a week. The viewing gallery opens on 27 September 2023, with booking from 20 September.

If it's anything as popular as the free Sky Garden, you'll need to book your spot days or even weeks in advance. That said, a handful of walk-in spaces will be made available each day — and the gallery will only be close on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

An express lift will whisk visitors from the ground, up to Horizon 22 in just 41 seconds — that's eight metres per second. Once up there, you'll be able to ogle the likes of St Paul's Cathedral; a central span of the Thames stretching from Tower Bride to the Hungerford and Golden Jubilee bridges; and the Walkie-Talkie, looking — let's be honest — distinctly short and stubby.

22 Bishopsgate itself stands on the site of the ill-fated Pinnacle building, which was ditched due to funding issues, and earned the derogatory nickname 'the Stump'.
Booking opens up on the Horizon 22 website on 20 September 2023. It'll be open seven days a week from (10am-6pm weekdays, 10am-5pm Saturdays and 10am-4pm Sundays and bank holidays). It's free, and a maximum of nine tickets can be booked by each customer
