A free light festival returns to Battersea Power Station this winter.
Eight large illuminated artworks will be scattered in and around the Power Station from 23 January-23 February 2025. They include Never Ends by Luigi Console and Valentina Novembre — a horse on a spring that can be ridden, prompting lights to spark into action; and Spin Me a Yarn, a playful neon ball of wool. Four of the pieces will be in London for the first time.
Here are the artworks in full:
- Aurora by James Glancy Design (Turbine Hall A): abstract light sculpture inspired by the Northern Lights.
- Spin me a Yarn by Studio Vertigo (Circus West Village): that huge, unravelling ball of wool.
- Tornado by UxU Studio (Power Station Park): tornado composed of light combining 'devastating natural phenomena with magnificent fantasy'.
- In Bloom by Kumquat Lab (Power Station Park): musical sculpture resembling a plant with 10 luminous spheres representing its 'flowers'.
- Spider by Groupe LAPS (Turbine Hall B): monumental spider consisting of 80 smaller spiders (yikes!).
- Atlas by Jon Voss (Malaysia Square): mechanical cyborg supporting an illuminated city.
- Lightcloud by Amigo & Amigo (Electric Boulevard): 1,000 lights representing human emotions.
- Never Ends by Luigi Console & Valentina Novembre (outside Third Space by Prospect Place): horse on a spring, which activates a fairy tale light show around it.

The installations will be on daily throughout the month-long festival, from 8am-11pm. Special roaming performances take place in Power Station Park and on Electric Boulevard on 23, 25 and 26 January.
