The streets of Chelsea and Belgravia are abloom with floral displays right now.
The Chelsea Flower Show is one of the highlights of the London year. But it's also a bit spendy. Happily, the streets of Chelsea and Belgravia put on their own show to coincide with the festival. And it's all 100% free.
Chelsea In Bloom (20 to 26 May 2024) and Belgravia in Bloom (20 to 27 May) are easy enough to explain. Numerous shops, cafes and parklets are decorated with fantastic floral arrangements. All you have to do is stroll around and enjoy them. Using your eyes. And perhaps your nose.
As an added bonus this year, St Mary's church on Bourne Street has its own display, called The Play's the Thing (21-25 May), which is again free to visit.
The floral sculptures are widespread. Sloane Square is a bit of a hub, with a few other creations in the ever-popular Duke of York's Square. The best stuff, though, is perhaps on the southern end of Sloane Street and almost the whole length of King's Road.
