Covent Garden's Christmas lights will be switched on from Tuesday 12 November 2019.

The official illuminating ceremony takes place in the Piazza that evening, with over 115,000 lights powering up in Covent Garden and the surrounding streets. The towering Christmas tree alone has 30,000 lights, and forms the centrepiece of the ceremony.

A special VIP guest — not yet announced — will have the honour of pressing the all-important button at 5.30pm, plunging the area into festive light. Keep an eye on the Covent Garden website for further updates.

The Regent Street Christmas lights 2019 switch-on date has also been announced, as has the Carnaby Christmas lights event, and details of the Trafalgar Square Christmas tree. Keep an eye on our guide to when other Christmas lights are turned on all over the capital.
