Visit The World's Tiniest Tube Station

This is Hanton Road tube station. You've probably never visited because it's designed for passengers an inch tall.

Hanton Road — clearly inspired by the designs of Charles Holden — is one of many newer buildings at Bekonscot Model Village in Beaconsfield. The tiny Underground station includes a cutaway pavement, allowing views down to platform level.

According to @MrTimDunn, who designed the additions to the village, Bekonscot Underground Railway 'probably joins the Metropolitan Railway near Amersham'.

Bekonscot Model Village is the oldest in the world, and first opened in 1929. Much of it resembles the conurbations of north-west London, popularly known as Metroland. Look closely, and you can see plenty of other nods towards London.

An art deco factory inspired by London's Hoover Building.
A replica of London Zoo's penguin pool.
London doesn't have a funicular railway quite like this, but the cabs are inspired by old underground cars (Q38 stock to be precise).

Alongside hundreds of delightful models, visitors will also find a miniature railway for full-sized people, a children's playground, the sundial from Enid Blyton's local house, a cafe and gift shop. It's a marvellous, miniature day out.

Bekonscot Model Village is a five minute walk from Beaconsfield station — just a short journey from London Marylebone. Here's our video from a 2017 visit. Find out more about fake tube stations around the world.
