Paddington has some new public art, and it's as adorable as the namesake bear himself.
These three bronze sculptures can be found in Paddington Square — the newish complex of shops, cafes and offices just to the north-east of the station.
Artist Richard Neergaard was inspired to create the trio (unveiled in March 2026) by a real-life personality. "They are based on a local art dealer whom I have nicknamed Bubbly because he loves Champagne, and he is quite a character," he tells us.
Richard has depicted 'Bubbly' in a variety of costumes, each of which plays on a traditional British 'type'. We find Bubbly Bobby blowing bubble gum, the Bubbly King's Guard superintending an escalator, and Gentleman Bubbly sipping tea in the company of a butterfly. All prime selfie stuff.
The Bubbly trio are a delightful addition to the streetscape of Paddington Square, which already has a colourful offering of public art. They'll be sticking around indefinitely, and may — the artist hopes — be joined by further characters in the future.
