It's the street where the NME was founded, Charlie Chaplin co-write 'Smile' and the Sex Pistols lived.
Denmark Street — aka Tin Pan Alley — is swamped in musical history, although of late it's been in the headlines more thanks to rampant redevelopment, and a perceived sterilisation of its former pulsing self.
Denmark Street Sessions is a tonic to all this; the one-day festival on Saturday 5 September 2026 is billed as "part street party, part open house, and a series of intimate live shows" — hosted at instrument stores, bars and venues in and around the central London thoroughfare.
An amuse bouche of this year's line-up:
🎤 A talk from Crispin Weir, owner of Regent Sounds Studios, on why and how Denmark Street became the home of British music.
🎤 Live music sets in various venues, including singer/songwriter Esme White at Regent Sounds; Moon Music Orchestra at Wunjo Guitars; the Roland Store hosting Henri Herbert playing the bones(!); and a closing party at Thirteen LDN from Pink Juice.
🎤 The Pink Juice gig is followed by an afterparty at Thirteen LDN with special guests.
Free music blowouts in this neck of the woods are becoming a bit of a thing: jazz club Ronnie Scott's recently brought back its annual street party on Soho's Frith Street.
