Quack, they're back. Those awkward, amphibious Duck tour vehicles are to return to the Thames nine months after one of them caught fire mid-river, forcing 30 passengers to jump overboard. Another vessel sank around the same time up in Liverpool. Ever since, the distinctive yellow vehicles — old DUKW transporter trucks from WWII — have been restricted to the roads. Following safety modifications and an investigation by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the tours are set to go aquatic once again, with the first splashdown set for next Tuesday. It's a welcome return for the fleet, one of the more eye-catching and quirky tourist attractions of the city. Images by M@.
