Comedian and broadcaster Tony Hancock is the latest great Londoner to receive an English Heritage blue plaque. The memorial was unveiled at 20 Queen’s Gate Place (just west of the Natural History Museum), where Hancock lived from 1952 to 1958.
The comedian is best known for Hancock's Half Hour, a hugely popular TV and radio show that ran between 1954 and 1956. The writers of that show, Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, were on hand to reveal the plaque, to coincide with what would have been Hancock's 90th birthday today. More details in the Guardian.
