He's Marcus du Sautoy, the Oxford mathematician and presenter who regularly pops up on BBC science programmes (and shown here doing a TED talk). Next week, he makes his professional acting debut in the Science Museum's new live theatre show, X&Y.
du Sautoy and fellow actor-mathematician Victoria Gould share the stage in an 'unconventional love story' involving maths, poetry and storytelling.
Through a series of surreal episodes, X and Y, trapped in a universe they don’t understand and confronted for the first time with another human being, tackle some of the biggest philosophical and scientific questions on the books: where did the universe come from, does time have an end, is there something on the other side?
Aimed at adults, the 70-minute show runs at the Science Museum from 10-16 October, with slots at 1pm and 7pm on most days. Tickets are £20 (£15 concessions) and can be booked here. Post-show talks by the actors take place on 13 and 15 October. Here's the teaser.
