London Comedy: Milton Jones, Zoe Lyons, Nish Kumar

See Zoe Lyons at St James Theatre on 5 September.

Our selection of London’s comedy gigs this week.

Laugh Til It Hurts

Ava Vidal, Carey Marx and Paul Sinha headline a fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support on Monday 2 September at The Comedy Store. Gordon Southern MCs and introduces other acts, including Paul Tonkinson, Sean Collins and Paul Thorne (8pm, £13).

Tickled Pig

This comedy night promises Percy Pigs, which is a kind of bribery we wholeheartedly condone. Nish Kumar tops the bill at the Canal Cafe Theatre on 4 September, and you can also see Alfie Brown, Amy Hoggart, Matt Rees, Fin Taylor, Sam Chaplin, Robbie Ormrod and Dom Tabone. Andy Mac keeps everyone in line (7.30pm, £10 / £9).

Zoe Lyons

St James Theatre's Studio is an odd place to watch comedy: basically it's rather posh, the kind of place you quaff a classy bottle of red than sink pints of cooking lager. Head there anyway on 5 September to catch Zoe Lyons – her most recent Edinburgh show was particularly good, a must if you're a fan of acerbic wit (8pm, £15 / £12.50).

Laugh Out Loud London

Tom Webb, of exceptionally long running comedy show NewsRevue (see it at the Canal Cafe Theatre) headlines at the Camden Head on 6 September, plus Holly Burn, Stuart Laws, Matthew Highton, Adam Larter and Andy Barr, all for £3 (doors open 8pm).

Dead Parrot Society

If you're out west, a new season of The Dead Parrot Society is starting at The Royal Oak in Teddington on 6 September. Viv Groksop hosts (checked out her book I Laughed, I Cried), with Sara Pascoe, Laurence Owen, Bisha K Ali, Henry Von Stifle and Nena Edwards on the bill (8pm, £10).

Milton Jones

The deadpan one-line merchant is recording a DVD of his latest show, On The Road, at Bloomsbury Theatre on 7 September. Silent chucklers may not be appreciated (7.30pm, £17.50 + £2.50 bf).
