Remember when the Games was all about dodgy design? These days it's being recognised for the right reasons: last night the Olympic Torch was named Design of the Year 2012 by the Design Museum.
Produced by British firm Barber Osgerby and likened to an elaborate cheesegrater or the world's largest spliff, the torch has been the rare bit of Games-related design to have received mostly positive notices. The Velodrome is another and, happily enough, it won the architecture prize last night.
