Two men have been arrested following a protest on top of the Bahrain Embassy in London. Ali Mushaima and Moosa Mohammed scaled the building on Monday to protest against human rights abuses in the middle eastern kingdom, as well as the decision to go ahead with the Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix this weekend.

In particular, the duo demanded the freedom of jailed Shi’a politician Hassan Mushaima (father of one of the protestors), and the dissident Abdulhadi al-Khawaja, currently on hunger strike.

The pair reached the roof by climbing scaffolding around the Belgrave Square embassy. The following video was recorded by Gerry McCleave, who was first to inform the police about the demonstration.

The Independent and BBC have more background on the protest and wider events in Bahrain, respectively.

Photographs come courtesy of supporters of the protestors, obtained by Londonist contributor Andy Thornley.
