Book, poetry and spoken word events in London this week

Wednesday: The Crick Crack Club performs tales of kings and vampires at the Soho Theatre (8pm, £8 / £6).

Poetry Digest – poems and cake – has a berry theme, with Jo Bell, Luigi Coppola, Dorothy Fryd, Claire Trévien and special guest Liz Berry. Ahhh, we get it (7pm, free).

Fleur Adcock and Sam Riviere help launch Poetry Review's winter issue at the Swedenborg Society (6.30pm, £8 / £6).

Issue 7 of Long Poem Magazine launches at the Barbican Centre, with poetry from Robert Vas Dias, Jemma Borg, Robert Chandler, Janet Sutherland and Isobel Armstrong (6.30pm, free).

Thursday: The Firestation Book Swap invites Chris Wakling and Nicola May to join hosts Scott Pack and Marie Phillips for chat and cake (7.45pm, £5 or free with homemade cake).

Two choices for you at the Southbank Centre: see Ahdaf Soueif talking about her book Cairo: My City, Our Revolution (7.45pm, £8) or literary salon Polari (7.45pm, £5) with winner of the Polari First Book Prize, James Maker, plus Rosie Wilby, Fidelis Morgan, Anthony McDonald and Rikki Beadle-Blair.

Mark Gwynne Jones and the London Teenage Poetry Slam Allstars are at Bang Said the Gun in SE1, with the usual Bang Said crew (8pm, £5).

Lil Simz, Dean Atta, Joshua Idehen, Musical Mindz, Rita Walters, G.R.E.Ed.S, Zita Holbourne, Infecta, Burnt Toast, Sean Mahoney, Jennifer Lewin and Kweku Aacht are just some of the acts appearing at Rich Mix for Riot:Lyrics Live (7.30pm, £5 / £3).

Catch the author of the excellent Bryant & May mysteries, Chris Fowler, at Foyles (6.30pm, free but email to reserve a place).

A.D. Miller pops into England's Lane Books to discuss his Booker shortlisted novel Snowdrops (7.30pm, free but email to reserve a place).

Hear Keats's iconic poem The Eve of St Agnes at the Guildhall Art Gallery (3pm, free).

Friday: Curators of the British Library's Royal Manuscripts exhibition, Scot McKendrick and Kathleen Doyle, discuss the planning and presentation (1pm, free).

There's another chance to hear The Eve of St Agnes and more of Keats's work at Keats House (3pm, £5 / £3).

The Poetry Society’s London South West Stanza hit the Poetry Cafe (7.30pm, free).

Saturday: Poet Audi Maserati performs at the Poetry Cafe (7.30pm).

See the 'dramatic song cycle' Angel in the Forest, featuring the work of German Jewish writer and poet Gertrud Kolmar, at St James's church, Piccadilly (7.30pm, £10-£35).

Sunday: Definite comedy crossover at Storytellers' Club: John Finnemore, Wil Hodgson, Doc Brown, James Dowdeswell and host Sarah Bennetto all tell mysterious (and, presumably, funny) tales at the Pleasance (7pm, £8 / £6).

Monday: Guardian journalist Paul Lewis strolls a few feet to Kings Place to discuss the Reading the Riots project (7pm, £9.50).

Michael Rosen and Mark Haddon are at the new super-library in Canada Water to talk about their new book and the importance of reading (7pm, free but you're going to need to book).

Fed up with winter? Coffee House Poetry has a hint of spring, with Jonathan Davidson, Liz Berry, Jennie Christian, Karen McCarthy Woolf, Edward McKay, Tamar Yoseloff, Dante Micheaux and Katy Evans-Bush (8pm, £7 / £6).

There's ensemble performance poetry from Live Canon, back at the Bloomsbury Theatre. Tonight they're doing the Pre Raphaelites (7.30pm, £12.50 / £10).

Caught By The River presents music and spoken word from Robin Turner (reading from In Search of the Perfect Pub: this is something Londonist can get on board with), Charles Rangeley-Wilson, Will Burns and John Andrews, up in Hampstead (7pm, £5).
