Tube To Run 24 Hours During Olympics?


The Olympic spirit is all about making the impossible happen. Could that notion extend to the London Underground?

Plans are afoot to run the Tubes continuously during the games to cope with a hugely increased demand. There would be no overnight maintenance breaks. Imagine. You could spend all evening partying in Cockfosters, before ambling back home by Tube at 4am.

The words 'Crow' and 'Bob' have no doubt already formulated in your mind and, lo, here he comes:

The hard fact is that there is no agreement with the unions in place for operating hours, volume of service, staffing levels or payments for next year's Olympics...The mayor can't keep London moving now, let alone for the Olympics in 2012.
