From 3rd - 27th March, Camden People’s Theatre will be running its annual Sprint Festival, showcasing experimental theatre and performance art by new and emerging artists. Featuring work from the likes of Analogue (who brought you this last month), Greg McLaren, Forest Fringe, Mamoru Iriguchi, Michael Pinchbeck and a good dozen or so more, the festival embraces a host of art forms, from dance, audio, animation and masquerade, to site-specific, immersive and physical theatre, with a number of innovative and exciting one-on-one pieces.
This year’s line up includes a one-man opera ('Doris Day Can Fuck Off'), an audio walk along the canal ('Vagabonds’ Voyage'), and a live outdoor show featuring interplay between dancers and BMX artists ('Roadworks'). You can even have a performance posted to your home ('Kitchen Sink Drama'). Those particularly grabbing our fancy are ‘Projector/Conjector’, a dance piece between a boy with a projector attached to his head and a girl with a television screen attached to hers, their love story electronically produced, and ‘I Confess’, which will see a confessional booth erected for one day on the concourse of St. Pancras International station.
Celebrating the progressive, the playful and the downright peculiar, Sprint looks set to live up to its promise of ‘adventurous experiences in theatre’.
