Building Tower Bridge, One Lego Brick At A Time

While most Londoners were staring glumly at the grim weather these past weekends, Dave Banks, Wired.com's self-professed Geek Dad, and his family turned their attention to recreating one of the city's most recognisable landmarks in Lego form.

4,200 bricks went into this model of Tower Bridge, with the piece completed after eleven hours, a lot of elbow grease, and probably a few thrown tempers too (if our childhood memories of Lego-related trauma are anything to go by).

It's not the first London icon to be rendered in plastic toy brick form — witness the Lego versions of the Cutty Sark and St Pancras station, while last year Selfridges were selling jewellery made from the stuff. We're starting to think that maybe the fascination of making stuff out of Lego is running a little thin.... however, the first person to send in pictures of a scale model of The Shard made from Stickle Bricks wins a Londonist badge.
