Crossrail To Go Ahead In Its Entirety

Whether it's the final word on the matter, we can't be sure, but noises out of Crossrail today suggest that the project will go ahead with no deleted stations or branches. There had been fears that financial pressure would lead to a scale-back in the route - perhaps chopping the spurs to Abbey Wood and Maidenhead. Today's announcement from Crossrail Limited promised no such snips. Instead, money will be saved by using existing train designs and reworking plans for Whitechapel and Canary Wharf stations (dang, we hope they keep the shark's mouth orifice). The whole scheme is due for completion in 2017.
