As the old music hall song goes: "If you want to know the time, ask a policeman". The constabulary of Kingston upon Thames are particularly blessed with horological insight after being pelted with wristwatches. Thieves smashed into Fraser Hart Jewellers in Kingston's loveable Bentall Centre yesterday, grabbing £0.5 million-worth of jewellery. In what sounds like a scene from an Ealing comedy, the fleeing raiders then hurled several luxury timepieces at pursuing coppers.
