Following on from Monday's story that even airlines aren't leaping for joy at proposals for Boris Island, we hear Doug Oakervee - the brains behind Hong Kong's floating airport and about to stand down from running Crossrail - is no longer attending a meeting with the London Assembly Environment Committee and won't be able to reschedule for "some months". Has he left the project, prompted to "balance" his "other interests" by his new Crossrail boss? And isn't it about time someone put this vanity project out of its misery, rather than spaffing £5m on another feasibility study at a time when there's plenty of other stuff to spend money on?
