Greenwich Council Gives Nod To Equestrian Events In Park

Last night, at what can only be described as a marathon of a public meeting, Greenwich Council's planning board gave the green light to hosting equestrian events in Greenwich Park. After nearly five hours of deliberation at Woolwich Town Hall, the board backed the proposal 10-2.

The decision comes after vehement protests from local pressure groups, who worry that the park will be irreparably damaged by the events. While some of their claims seem exaggerated, even NIMBYish given that this is a World Heritage Site and not just a park for locals, their strong campaign should be beneficial in the long run, ensuring planners and developers are scrutinised at every stage. Greenwich Park will undoubtedly be a beautiful setting for the equestrian events, but it is important to ensure that any damage is minimal and temporary.

Blogger Greenwich Phantom offers a resigned but balanced view, while Darryl 853 finds suspiciously prescient coverage in local propaganda sheet the Greenwich Time.
