Crooks have been playing DLR ticket machines like one-armed bandits, raking in pockets-full of coins. Details are sketchy, but it seems that the scammers increased the apparent value of a coin by wadding it out with tin foil, thus reaping increased amount of change. The resourceful thieves also 'laundered stolen banknotes marked with anti-theft dye'. The machines have since been replaced with less naive automatons.
