Boris Johnson Told To Pay Back Expenses

1509_boris.jpg The Mayor was yesterday ordered to repay £1,266 that he erroneously expensed for council tax money while MP for Henley. Mr. Johnson's entanglement with the expenses scandal was one of the minor skirmishes in the now six-month long Telegraph story that has claimed numerous political careers, yet a letter sent by Sir Thomas Legg, who is investigating the parliamentary scandal, accused the Mayor of "dispassionate judgement of the rules" in making the claim. The Mayor's spokesperson said that the claim was an "administrative error", and that the sum had been repaid in full. If, to quote Boris directly, the annual sum of £250,000 he gets for his Telegraph column is "chicken feed", presumably the trifling sum of £1,200 is like a dirty-looking penny piece that you can't even be bothered to pick up from the ground.
