The 17th annual Raindance Film Festival opens tonight, unleashing the talents of some of the latest indie auteurs upon the capital and celebrating the edgiest film making around. Coming at us from all directions, strands include home-grown talent, Japan, Raindance Symphony orchestra, American indie and Brit house. Turning us on are:
Borges and I
Through the use of a secret camera, an out-of-work actor tries to uncover the reasons behind his failing career and takes on an experiment to find out if it is possible to control how others perceive him.
I Think We’re Alone Now
A portrait of two people who are obsessed with the 1980's pop star, Tiffany.
Hollywood's 4 Biggest Lies
Raindance founder, Elliot Grove, enlightens us on the bullshit that surrounds the industry and that keeps first-timers away from writing, directing, producing or starring in a movie.
The festival's residency at The Apollo West End for the next 2 weeks will ensure the square eyes of plenty of film loving Londoners. Raindance punters will also have more schmoozing opportunities than ever before with the opening of the Raindance Film Café which plays host to all manner of screenings, panels, masterclasses, live music, snazzy events and wild parties. Entrance is free between 12noon and 6pm.
Raindance 17th Film Festival runs 30 September to 11 October. Let us know what you're planning to see in the comments.
