Cobra-Shaped Tower For Docklands?

Skyscrapernews reports on a potential new addition to London's tribe of buildings that look a bit like other things. The 'Dollar Bay' tower, which would stand to the north-eastern end of the Isle of Dogs, facing the O2 arena, takes the slender form of a rearing cobra in early massing diagrams. The 47 storey tower is designed by Londonewcastle architects and would be wholly residential with around 250 apartments. As the source wryly observes, 'With a construction cost on the project estimated at £96 million, that makes it potentially worth 158.69 million times its name.' A planning application is expected soon, with a best-case construction start date of March next year. More images can be found on the Skyscrapercity forums.
