Londonist Stays In

Bringing you the most Londony shows on TV over the coming week.

Londonist stays in...as do most of the capital this week. Just as well there's a bevy of cracking new London-based shows starting this week.

Monday

Moses Jones (BBC2, 21.00-22.00) New three-part drama series. A couple of Scotland Yard detectives (one of whom is Matt Smith AKA the New Who) investigate a presumed case of death by witchcraft after a mutilated body is washed up in the Thames.

Whitechapel (ITV1, 21.00-22.00) New three-part detective dramas are the order of the day. This time, Rupert Penry-Jones of Spooks fame leads an investigation into a modern day Jack the Ripper. Favourable reviews and the presence of a League of Gentlemen alumnus (Steve Pemberton) suggest that ITV might actually have something substantial on their hands.

Wednesday

Minder (FIVE, 21.00-22.00) Shane Ritchie and Lex Shrapnel (surely an exiled WWE wrestler?) reboot the classic London-based drama. Could they be so good for us? Will Dennis Waterman get to sing the feem toon?

Thursday

Soho Blues (C5, 21.00-22.00) More grime and crime on the streets of Soho.

Friday

Sky Cops (BBC1, 20.30-21.00) London's literal flying squad take to the air once again, this week tackling motorbike criminals and Iraq War protesters.

Saturday

Demons (ITV1, 19.50-20.50) Last in the series for the London vampire-hunting yarn.

Sunday

The BAFTA Awards 2009 (BBC2, 20.00-22.00) Form the Royal Opera House.
