Populist brings you a bite sized round up of the best of Londonist this week. Catch up on the coolest, quirkiest, most recommended and talked about stories and find out what's hot and what's happening for the week ahead.

In the news:

  • The city came to a standstill as Obama was beamed to our tellies and internets being sworn in as the 44th president of the USA. Our friends in DC eavesdropped on the thousands visiting Washington for the historic event while we made sure you had somewhere to go if you skived off work early.
  • The Daily Mail got its knickers in a twist over Park Lane squatters while we went skipping and explored the Temporary School of Thought in Mayfair.
  • We got confused about just how much crime there is about. And kept an eagle eye on our bags. Perhaps we should just stop worrying and enjoy our lives.
  • The Olympic Park is emerging - we had a wander round it - but so are fears of mega-brothels.
  • Check out the news archives for more.

    What's hot:

  • Bungee jumping off Big Ben. Nuff said.
  • Well cheap sarnies.
  • Heathrow mappery through the ages and traces of outfitters long gone.
  • Colombia Road: more than just a flower market.
  • Ether 09 - Book now.
  • Check out the Arts and Events tag for more.

Images clockwise from top left: bye bye Dionysus, best pin cushion ever, retro clothing signs spotted, bungee of Big Ben in Second Life. Keep track of our most popular posts by checking out Favourites or using the Populist tag.
