Bit of a short one today, to tide you over until next week when all the major venues are back in action after a spring thaw. The Dana Centre has but one event on over the next week, Better Brains, where they look at apparently ‘trendy’ smart drugs.

Drugs like Provigil can change your world. But is taking this kind of brain enhancement cheating? Are there long-term drawbacks, and will such drugs result in more social inequality? What are the real effects on the brain?

More to the point, how often are we going to have to adjust our spam filters if they keep bringing out these new wonder drugs?

For fans of surgery, the Hunterian Museum pays its regular homage to founder John Hunter on Tuesday (you can see his bust in Lincoln’s Inn Fields). Hunter’s biographer Wendy Moore will be giving a free talk about the career of this pioneering surgeon.

Finally, it’s your last chance to get along to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year event over at the Natural History Museum this week. The exhibition ends on Sunday.

When and Where?

DECIDE: Better brains, 6.30, Tuesday, Dana Centre, Free

The knife man, 7pm, Tuesday, Hunterian Museum, FREE

Wildlife photographer of the Year, till Sunday, NHM, £6
