We fell in love with Black Cab Sessions the moment we first heard of them. How could we not? Taking a drive around the best city in the world (okay, we're biased, yes) in a design classic with some of our favourite bands rockin' out in the back seat: it's exactly how we'd like to spend a lazy afternoon. Since we generally are unable to scrape together enough coins to even steal sideways glances......

We already knew London was capital of the world, but 2007 has firmly cemented us as the best city by far musically. The Millennium Dome reopened as the O2 Arena, hosting not only 21 nights of Prince, the Rolling Stones, Take That, and the Spice Girls first UK dates for 10 years, but also the most anticipated gig for a good decade or so: Led Zeppelin’s reformation. Unfortunately this Londonista had to settle for some......

Motown legends The Four Tops won a victory in court last Friday, as they successfully prevented a rival band from touring with their name. Apparently singer Viscount Oliver Miller had been touring with his band, who went under the somewhat suspect name of "Viscount Oliver's Legendary Four Tops". There were surely Four Tops fans who were hoodwinked by this name trickery and attended the advertised gigs, assuming they would see at least one member......

As bands jump across the Atlantic to play this weekend's V Festival and next weekend's Reading and Leeds festivals London is treated to a wealth of bands that rarely play these shores. Here's a selection of the best. Monday night sees the amazing Rilo Kiley play the Carling Academy Islington – tickets sold out pretty quickly, but there are a few floating around on eBay etc for what is sure to be one of their......

Off to see Timberlake at the new-look Dome tonight? Make sure you don’t get the wrong venue. The Greenwich attraction isn’t the only O2 in town… The O2, Greenwich Peninsula Function: Entertainment venue, including stadium, 11-screen cinema and exhibition space. Includes Justin Timberlake. Age: 7.5 years. Opened at the end of 1999 as the Millennium Dome, now recalled to life as the O2. Capacity: 20,000 in the main arena. Size: 365 m diameter and the......

"I'd forgotten how good they were!" exclaimed one of the many odd-looking denizens of The Forum on Saturday night. New Jersey threesome Yo La Tengo are in the enviable position of being not too hot and not too cold. For over twenty years they have gathered together a solid core of adoring fans, but by never breaking into the commerical mainstream they have left themselves with the freedom to continue the varied and experimental......

Gareth John alerted us to this amazing video he found via Digg. Out of Time - a celebration of the occasionally loved, but mostly unloved modernist architecture and design of London and beyond in the 60's and 70's. The era of Prime Ministers MacMillan, Wilson and Heath. Tower blocks, car parks, motorways, social housing, schools, cars, trains, shops and public buildings all included. Music is Out of Time by Chris Farlowe, written by the......

With Download, The Isle Of White Festival and Bon Jovi's Milton Keynes shows all coming this weekend, festival season is well and truly upon us. For agrophobics everywhere else, may we suggest the following for consideration. Tonight: Upbeat, uncynical quirky Brit punky pure pop from Circuits upstairs at the Garage alongside Popular Workshop and LR Rockets. £5 in, doors at 8. Tuesday: From those nice folks who bring you Rock'n'Roll Soul and Health and......

The money pit known as Wembley Stadium is now not due to open until 2007. Bon Jovi, Take That, Robbie Williams and the Rolling Stones have now been cast to the four winds - they'll probably relocate to Twickenham and erm Milton Keynes. Anyone who has tickets for those shows - your band and your stadium sucks. Little setbacks like blowing £757m on a glorified playground have not dampened our enthusiasm for the Olympics.......

The as yet unfinished Wembley Stadium has been under fire for most of it's embryonic life, at times literally and of late, figuratively. It has been confirmed that the stadium will not be ready in time for the FA Cup final which was to be Wembley's formal unveiling on 13 May, and a new date for the opening cannot be given by Australian building firm Multiplex. Losses have surpassed £75million and are creeping towards......

The second part in our guide to the best holiday season art exhibitions (read Part 1). Design Museum: Robert Brownjohn Retrospective of the American graphic designer at his peak in the 50’s and 60’s. His work includes the title sequences for the James Bond films Goldfinger and album artwork for the Rolling Stones. Why you should see it: Brownjohn injected a little rock’n’roll into modern typography. He’s like the Jagger of font, man. Design Museum,......

If you're reading this at any time past 9 this morning chances are all the tickets for the following three gigs are gone. Take That, minus Robbie as if we didn't know - but they'd sure be happy if he donned his overalls and joined them, play Wembley Arena on the 8th and 9th of May. Birds are expected to fall from their telephone wire perches as thousands of decibels of high-pitched screams echo......

In a move away from the usual new Wembley Stadium sports and schedulestories we've been bringing you, here's one about the music. Even though the first band to headline the new stadium will be Bon Jovi, Robbie William had been hoping that his September gigs were to be the first of a British artist treading those hallowed boards. Of course it's possible they may have bought some new ones so they won't be that......

Time once again to leave the week's big releases (The Rolling Stones) behind and take a listen to some of the more esoteric releases that have dropped into the Londonist Music team's mail box recently. The Oggs - Radiotherapy If we were to say The Oggs hail from NYC, with an album title like Radiotherapy, chances are you'd expect something on the punkier side of The Strokes. Not to be. Instead what we have......

First off congratulations to Annie Sullivan and Andy Lee who won the Kaibosh and Delta Blues competitions respectively. Prizes in the post. Soon as we get some stamps. So what have we learnt this week down in the Londonist music dungeon? Well we've learnt that it's not a good idea to be a photographer at a Britney Spears Baby Shower. We've learnt that David Gray is a little late at jumping onto bandwagons. We've......

A rousing chorus of Happy Birthday to us will be heard from the ofices of Uncut magazine this Thursday as they publish their 100th issue. Over the past 8 years Uncut has kept us entertained with its mixture of cult movie writing and focus on classic country and folk oriented rock music. They've introduced us to some great artists (including The Drive By Truckers, Micah P Hinson and Richmond Fonataine) and in doing so......

This weekend see the start of another 'popular culture' exhibition at the Proud Gallery in Camden (the other one is on the Strand). Sometimes the Proud's exhibition schedule can maybe look a little 'fluffy' against some of the capital's more heavyweight contenders. But popular culture is what the Proud galleries do best, and their quality control is pretty good too. So if you can get over the fact that they're actually called the 'Sony......

The last time Woody Allen was in town we completely failed in our mission to stalk him across the city. For that, we can only apologise. This time we are determined to do a much better job of following Woody's every move...and if we happen to get a glimpse of Scarlett Johansson then that's no bad thing either right? Anway, on to the spying. The following report comes courtesy of Sarah Stodola of methree.net:......

The Clash's performance at the Rainbow Room in 1977 has been voted the Best London Gig Ever by Time Out. The Finsbury Park gig, which also included The Jam, Buzzcocks, Subway Sect and The Prefects as support, came top of the 100 strong list compiled by "journalists and contributors". The 'middle aged journos reminiscing about their youth' factor may have contributed to the Clash wining, but second place went to a much more recent......
