We are very excited about this year's Nationwide Mercury Music Prize nominations. Not only did we personally manage to guess 9 out of 12 correctly, but some Londonist favourites are nicely sitting in the mix with the unnervingly young Laura Marling, the mighty Elbow, dazzling jazz stars Portico Quartet and dubstep hero Burial all on the list. What we're really excited about is the inclusion of Neon Neon - Gruff Rhys and Boom Bip's......

This week saw Londonist Get Scientific when we previewed We Are Scientists playing Soho Revue Bar this Tuesday, get excited about Eurovision and get cosy with Portico Quartet. A busy week all in all! Looking ahead to this week however, we have Eels playing Royal Festival Hall on Monday night. They've invited the Queen too, so it could be an amusing evening. Friday: So on the one hand we have glitterpunks Lorca at Purple Turtle making lots of noise and on the other Whirlwind Heat return with new......

And you'll have to be quick about it. On Monday night Raison D'Etre celebrate their fourth anniversary at the Jazz Cafe in Camden and they've very kindly offered to put the names of two Londonist readers on the guest list for this now sold out event. All you need to do to is to email us here in the music dungeon (londonist dot music at gmail dot com) before 5pm this Sunday (5th) with......

Re-reading this before putting it live, we're struck by how many very fine gigs and events there are on this week (as well as how bad our spelling is) and that's just the ones we know about. Promise us you'll go to at least one of them. We're sure you'll have a good time. Tonight: LA singer / songwriter, and one half of folk duo the Les Shelleys, Angela Correa will be at the......
