This is what we’ve learned whilst you’ve been creosoting your fence this weekend: Hurrying Harry: the prince’s cavalcade is under investigation for going a tad fast in the rush to get to Boujis. Boris the multi-culturalist: first he appoints a Muslim arts director, and now we’ve got a Sikh transport chappy. In the weekend crime round-up, two men have been stabbed outside an East London club, whilst a woman has died after falling from......

At the time when government is cracking down on our Fire Brigades to proactively work on diversity and equality in the Service, it is happily recruiting outside its normal demographic. Outside our species, in fact. The Urban Search and Rescue canine squad is receiving a £430,000 investment to expand its elite sniffing skills to London's fire service and another 16 services nationwide. The dogs - usually springer spaniels or collies - receive 18 months......

OK, so we admit we've got a soft spot for our city's firefighters and a morbid fascination with their latest incident page but it is genuinely good news for all of us that the London Fire Brigade is officially "performing strongly" according to the Audit Commission latest assessment. The Commission looked at all fire authorities in England and London was especially praised for its outreach and education work - remember Controversy? Also, their relative......

Firefighters rank pretty highly in our list of bona fide, real life heroes. So, news that a fire crew in Deptford rescued and resucitated a 9 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier from a fire that started in the basement of a Chinese Restaurant yesterday, just makes us go all moist at the edges. Four people were also led to safety by firefighters from Deptford, Greenwich and East Greenwich firestations but it's the image of......

We love Firefighters. We also harbour a morbid love for the London Fire Brigage incident page which tells you what's burnt down where (look - a hay barn in Upminster ). But now we've got love for a particular firefighter who seems to have done the impossible: produced a rap track promoting fire safety and made it look cool. Yes, "Got Mine Got Yours" is a bonafide, non-cringeworthy message to da kidz but also......

Oxford Street remains closed to traffic today due to a rampant fire which broke out above the New Look store on Oxford Street during rush hour yesterday evening. Ten fire engines and around fifty firefighters remained at the scene this morning – at one point an incredible 150 firefighters were deployed through the night to battle the blaze, bring it under control and stop it spreading to neighbouring buildings, including the huge Marks &......
